Somali officials have executed two members of the Islamic extremist group, Al Shabaab.

The military in the capital, Mogadishu, confirmed that the two, Hassan Ali Hassan, 25, and Abdirahman Isse Ali, 22, were executed on Monday.

Captured in November 2016, the two were sentenced to death by execution by a military tribunal which found them guilty of the murder of a traditional chief, Hilowle Heefow Hussein.

Two weeks earlier, a serial Al-Shabaab bomber, Abdul Kadir Shaa’ir was executed via firing squad after being convicted of a series of bombings in 2017.
