OUAGADOUGOU, 29 December 2020 – Burkina Faso’s President Roch Marc Christian Kabore was sworn into office Monday at an oath swearing ceremony in Ouagadougou.
Kabore pledged before the 1,200 people in attendance and millions gathered before television sets across the country to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law and “to do everything possible to ensure justice for all in Burkina Faso”.
The incumbent won 57.74 percent of the votes cast in the presidential election of last November 22, according to final results certified by the country’s Constitutional Council.
Monday marked the beginning of Kabore’s second and last term in office.
Heads of government or their representatives from the 15 West African economic bloc (ECOWAS) participated in the colorful ceremony.
