YAOUNDE, 20 January 2021 – Burkina Faso beat Zimbabwe, three-one, and Cameron drew, one-one, with Mali in the second day of action in Group A of the 2020 African Nations Championship also known as Total African Nations Championship (CHAN 2020).
Burkina Faso’s Sosso put his side up one-nil at the 14th minute but then Jaure brought the two sildes level at the 23rd minute, it took two more goals from Kiendrebeogo at the 53rd and Ouedrago at the 67th fpr Bukina Faso to score their first win in the tournament.
Cameroon striker, Banga, socred his second game of the tournament at the 6th minute only to see Mali draw level with a goal from Samake at the 12th minute of play.
The results leave both Cameroon and Mali at the top of the table in Group A with four points each and a goal difference of plus-one each.
Burkina Faso is a close tird with three points and a a goal difference of plus-one as well.
Zimbabwe brings up the rear aith zero points and a negative goal difference of three.
Action moves Thursday to Group B at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon’s economic capital, where Libya takes on group leaders DR Congo Thursday ahead of the game third-placed Niger and bottom-placed Congo-Brazzavile.
Cameroon won hosting rights for the toutnament on 13 April 2019 after Ethiopia withdrew.
It is what led to the dealy in the tournament originally scheduled to hold from 4 to 25 April 2019.
Unlike the African Cup of Nations, CHAN2020 feautees only players affiliated to domestic teams in the 16 countries spilit up into the four groups.
