ALEXANDRIA, 4 November 2020 – A professor of sociology in Egypt has been suspended for reportedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
The accusations are linked to views the Alexandria-based professor expressed during an online broadcast focused on cartoons by the French newspaper, Charlie Hebdo.
It is students of the professor, Muhammad Mahdali, who lodged the complaint against his comments leading to his suspension from the Higher Institute of Social Work.
The students posted footage of what Muhammad Mahdali said during the broadcast, keeping the controversy alive online, after the professor deleted his feed and apologized for posting it in the first place.
