KUMBO, 3 November 2020 – Eleven teachers have reportedly been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Kumbo in the northern zone of Southern Cameroons.

Rev. Fonki Samuel Foba who manages schools affiliated to the Presbyterian Church has been cited by reporters as saying the teachers were kidnapped on Tuesday in front of their students.

Rev. Fonki claims the gunmen kidnapped 12 teachers but one of them escaped as they were being led away.

The regime of President Paul Biya has blamed the kidnapping on fighters campaigning for a breakaway republic that they call Ambazonia.

Last October 24, at least seven school children were massacred in a school in Kumba in the southern zone of Southern Cameroons.
