NAIROBI, 20 June 2021 – Two Kenyan parliamentarians have expressed concern after seven girls from the Somali community went missing last Tuesday.

Fear has gripped the Somali community after a photo of one girl, injured in an attack, was shared on social media.

A video is also being disseminated on social media showing a girl saying her abductors seek $50,000 in ransom payment in order to release her.

Kenyan MP Yusuf Hassan who represents the Eastleigh district in Nairobi where the girls are from called the girls’ disappearance “kidnappings”, urging police to investigate the incidents.

Kenyan newspapers published stories over the weekend saying Kenyan police have video of the two girls seen in a shopping center shortly before their “disappearance”.
