NAIROBI, 16 November 2020 – Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday added his voice to calls for an end to the violence and the peaceful resolution of the conflict between Ethiopia’s federal government and authorities in its northern region of Tigray.

In a statement issued after meeting Monday in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, with Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen, Kenyatta warned against the devastating effects that “a full-blown conflict” is likely to have on Ethiopia.

The statement called on the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) “to de-escalate the conflict”.

President Yoweri Museveni

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni had made a similar appeal earlier in the day after also meeting with Demeke in the Ugandan capital, Kampala.
