NAIROBI, 11 February 2021 – Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he will hand over the country to irresponsible leaders, adding that he will not hand over the country to thieves.

“I intend to ensure that those who will take over power will not exploit and steal from Kenyans,” Uhuru Kenyatta told a group of Kenyans who gathered to hear him.

He said he will leave the country in safe hands, not at the mercy of people intent on enriching themselves.

The Kenyan leader did not name those he said could not be trusted with the ship of state.

“I want the next government to foster unity among our people not divide them,” Uhuru Kenyatta said.

He mocked those who have, in his opinion, suggested that he may cling on to power, saying he would not be bothered by insults.
