LILONGWE, 27 December 2020 – Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera met on Boxing Day with his predecessor Peter Mutharika at the former president’s residence in Mangochi.
The visit as a “rare feat in the political history of democratic Malawi,” The Nation commented.
“Most leaders almost always expect persecution when they leave office,” The Nation added.
Chakwera posted a picture of the two presidential couples on his Facebook page along with a caption that read: “Foes, never. Rivals, sometimes. Compatriots, always.”
