ABUJA, 9 November 2020 – Nigeria recorded its highest daily infections of COVID-19 on Sunday, public health officials announced.
Three hundred (300) people tested positive for the new coronavirus, according to data published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).
Lagos State recorded 255 of the 300, with the rest spread across five other states.
Lagos is Nigeria’s reddest or red zones with nearly 22,000 confirmed infections.
The total number of people who have contracted the virus in Nigeria is estimated to be 64,090 as of last Sunday, according to the NCDC.
Nigeria’s daily infection rate had been below 300 for almost three months until Sunday’s jump, fuelling fears that the new wave was upon Africa’s most populated nation.
