Saylici urged Somalilanders to follow COVID-19 guidelines in order to say safe by avoiding being infected or infecting others.

He called on Somalilanders to pray for him.

Somaliland declared independence from Somalia during the 1991 civil war, effectively restoring independence which it first obtained from the United Nations on 1 July 1961 before forming the now failed confederation with Somalia.

Somaliland’s independence is not internationally recognized although a number of countries maintain informal ties with the self-declared republic, currently one of the most stable parts of the former Somalia Republic.
