JOHANNESBURG, 26 March 2021 – A mall in South Africa has suspended its manager for denying admission to a shopper because he was dressed in traditional regalia.
Video gone viral of the incident shows the manager at Boulders Shopping Center in Johannesburg turning away the shopper on claims that the “Ndebele” attire was “not decent”.

“We’ve got the right of admission. I don’t condone this in my mall,” he was heard saying.
In a statement released Thursday the mall owner, Redefine Properties, said the incident was “most regrettable”.
The suspension of the manager was announced in the statement.
South Africa’s Ndebele people live in the Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
The pharmacy chain, Clicks, in whose store the incident occurred, has said it “will be putting in a formal complaint” with the mall.
