The rumors started and went viral on social media before spreading to a few mainstream media reports.

On Tuesday, Ateny rubbished them, describing the reports as “witch-hunting” and pure fabrications.

Sudans Post cited a statement it had received Monday from Wek Ateny in which he said President Kiir is carrying out his duties as usual and does not need heart transplant, as rumored.

“The President is not sick and had nothing in his heart that requires transplant,” Wek Ateny said in the statement, adding: “All are witch-hunting and fabrications”.
