ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA, 18 JUNE 2018 – South Sudanese President Salva Kiir and South Sudanese rebel leader Riek Machar are expected to meet Wednesday, 20 June for peace talks, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed invited Machar, currently under house arrest in South Africa, to the talks. It would be the first meeting between Kiir and Machar since August 2016 when a peace agreement between the government and the rebel group fell apart.
