ANTANANARIVO, 4 November 2020 – The new coronavirus (COVID-19) has killed close to a dozen members of parliament across Southern Africa, according to the leader of the Southern African Development Community’s Parliamentary Forum, Esperanca Bias.
The MPs who have died from COVID-19 were from Angola, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mauritius and Madagascar.
Ms. Bias offered her condolences to the families of the deceased MPs, reiterating the warning that COVID-19 is real.
She spoke as she closed a session of the Parliamentary Forum held in Maputo, capital of Mozambique.
