Security officials said they received a tip and conducted a search in the home during which they found the bag containing the drugs.

Other drugs were found in the back seat of the car.

The couple allegedly committed the crime on 1 May 2019 at their residence in Mbezi Beach in Kinondoni District of Dar es Salaam.

The couple was denied bail and held in detention, awaiting trial since 2019.

Shamim Mwasha ran a YouTube channel that was often critical of the government.
