DODOMA, 5 November 2020 – Tanzania’s President John Magufuli was sworn in Thursday for a second and final presidential term.
The ceremony took place in the sports stadium in the capital, Dodoma, following his victory at last week’s presidential ballot.
Magufuli was declared winner of 84 percent of the vote.
The main opposition candidate, Tundu Lissu, received 13 percent of the vote.
The two main opposition parties challenged the results, decrying what they described as election irregularities.
Tanzania’s election commission denied the claims that the ballot was rigged.
