TUNIS, 23 December 2020 – Tunisian authorities say they will extend the nightly curfew countrywide until mid-January 2021.

The extension was announced Tuesday night heeding a recommendation made by Tunisia’s COVID-19 Scientific Committee.

More than 120,000 positive COVID cases have been recorded since March 2020 in Tunisia.

Tunisian officials estimate that the death rate is averaging more than 40 a day in the country.

Hospital space is fast running out with 77 percent of ICU beds across the country fully occupied as of Tuesday night.
