TUNIS, 4 November 2020 – French police confirmed Wednesday that the attacker who killed three people in Nice on Thursday is a Tunisian national.
The attacker, believed to be 21 years old, beheaded an elderly woman and killed two others in a church in the French Riviera city.
Police say they believe the attacker entered France via Italy.
Tunisians formed a big bloc of foreign fighters for the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, according to French security forces.
Another Tunisian man drove a truck into a Bastille Day crowd in Nice in 2005, killing 86 people.
The government of Tunisia condemned the attack.
