KAMPALA, 1 February 2021 – Uganda’s pop star turned politician, Bobi Wine, has formally filed a challenge against the outcome of the last presidential election in the country.

The petition alleges that the ballot was rigged.

Uganda’s electoral commission has denied allegations of fraud and challenged Bobe Wine to provide evidence of the vote rigging he has alleged.

Official results said incumbent Yoweri Museveni won 58 percent of the vote.

In power since 1986, the victory gave Museveni a historic sixth term in office.

Bobi Wine, whose real names are Robert Kyagulanyi,was credited with 35 percent of the votes cast.

Museveni’s ruling party has said his victory will be upheld in court.
