KAMPALA, 25 December 2020 – Police arrested nearly 400 revelers on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for violating the curfew and other coronavirus restrictions..

Sixty-four of those arrested were picked up in one-night swoop on Fame Bar and Restaurant on Christmas Day.

Those arrested were 18 female revelers and 46 males, according to Senior Superintendent of Police Ashiraf Seiko Chemonges, who led the operation from Naguru police headquarters.

Police also arrested 329 suspects from various other bars.

The raids targeted bars and indoor dining restaurants in Katwe and Kira Division on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day.

The suspects are detained at Kira Road police station pending their appearance in court on Monday, 28 December 2020.

They are held on charges of engaging in a negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease.
